A Canadian Journal of Bonsai, Horticultural, Stone & Nature Culture.

GAIDEN Magazine is a collaborative Canadian digital journal rooted in bonsai, horticulture, geology, suiseki, outdoor exploration, and the quiet wonder of the natural world.

Originally envisioned as a traditional print publication, GAIDEN has evolved into something more organic: a growing community platform dedicated to celebrating the people, stories, artistry, landscapes, and educational voices that shape Canadian growing culture.

Rather than operating as a conventional commercial magazine, GAIDEN is being built slowly and collaboratively through contributions, interviews, photography, educational features, event spotlights, and community participation from individuals and organizations who share a love for nature, creativity, cultivation, and discovery.

Our Vision

We believe there is beauty in slow things.

In shaped trees. In weathered stone. In hidden trails. In hand-built gardens. In greenhouse conversations. In regional knowledge. In people who dedicate years of care to living things.

GAIDEN exists to help document and celebrate these worlds.

Our long-term goal is to create an accessible and visually engaging Canadian archive of:

  • Bonsai culture
  • Horticultural education
  • Stone appreciation & suiseki
  • Geology & rockhounding
  • Garden & greenhouse culture
  • Local events & clubs
  • Artists & craftspeople
  • Canadian landscapes & growing traditions
  • Community stories rooted in nature

A Community-Grown Publication

GAIDEN is not being built by a large publishing company.

It is being shaped collaboratively by enthusiasts, educators, artists, growers, clubs, researchers, photographers, and curious wanderers who believe these communities deserve thoughtful representation and preservation.

We welcome:

  • Educational articles
  • Interviews
  • Club spotlights
  • Event coverage
  • Photography submissions
  • Artist features
  • Regional stories
  • Horticultural perspectives
  • Geological and outdoor exploration content

We are especially interested in helping highlight Canadian voices, organizations, and events.

Collector Editions Available Soon!

Our plan is to grow sustainably while remaining accessible, flexible, and community-driven.

Alongside the digital editions, we also hope to produce occasional small-run collector print editions through print-on-demand services for readers who enjoy physical archival copies.

Join the Conversation

GAIDEN is still young. Still growing. Still finding its shape.

And perhaps that is exactly how meaningful things begin.

If you are a club, educator, artist, grower, researcher, photographer, writer, or simply someone who loves these worlds, we would genuinely love to hear from you.

Together, we hope to cultivate something thoughtful, enduring, and deeply rooted in Canadian nature culture.
